Brightening Winter Beauty ~ Some Current Product Faves

Brightening Winter Beauty ~ Some Current Product Faves

Hi guys, in this edit I’m sharing a few of my beauty faves that I love using during the current winter months. Skin takes a battering from cold weather and central heating, plus, it’s when we are usually at our palest, and skin can sometimes look a little flat and dull. Using hydrating and brightening skincare and makeup, we can help achieve a glowing, fresh look during this grey old season.

I like to prep skin with hydrating products as a base, which will help build that glowy look. I love using balm cleansers like Bobbi Brown Extra Balm Rinse, especially in winter, as oils feed the skin, helping to keep it nourished and hydrated. I love facial mists, especially Disciple Juicy Mist (see below), as its super hydrating. Lately, I alternate with Decleor Tonifying Lotion containing Neroli, orange peel and green tea, to keep skin radiant and further prevent dehydration.

My can’t be without moisturiser/primer hybrid, is Bobbi Brown Vitamin Enriched Face Base, to moisten, hydrate and brighten skin (find more on these here). I also use along side this, Bobbi Brown Illuminating Moisture Balm, either as an extra base for luminosity, or dabbing on high points to add a glow, but I especially love to mix with a stick foundation.

For my favourite foundation formula for glow and hydration, I use Bobbi Brown Skin Serum Foundation SPF40 (above), which now comes in a pump dispenser. I’m currently in shade Beige, and find this formula excellent for a dehydrated or dry skin. Containing fruit oils, lavender, glycerine and wheat protein, it provides a luminous finish with added UVA and UVB protection. I like to use a post-foundation powder, but I don’t want to look flat. A favourite of mine for several years now, is Bobbi Brown Nude Finish Illuminating Powder (in shade Nude). This takes away shine yet adds glow, thanks to its pearlescent formula with fruit Extracts. To add a little hint of warmth, I opt for Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder, which over the years I’ve found to be the best matte bronzers out there. I’m currently wearing Stonestreet as I’m at mypalest, and opt for Natural when I have more colour.

Sometimes, it’s easy to forget body skincare in winter, mainly as we hide it away and don’t have as much energy to bother. Post Christmas, I start piling on the hydration ready for Spring, as all the layers and heating zap the moisture from skin. I usually body brush pre-shower, then apply body moisturiser, my latest addition being Decleor Neroli Comforting Body Milk. Since L’Oreal bought out Decleor, there have been a lot of changes, some of which, I am not a fan (especially as an ex Decleor therapist)! This replaces Aroma Comfort Lotion, which had a thicker viscosity. However, I purchased being curious, and this actually hydrates skin well without needing as much product, plus it still adds luminosity to the skin, much like the old lotion.

These are just a few of my main religious ‘go-to’ products over the last couple of months, that help brighten my look during the grey winter months. I hope some of these have been of interest, and if you have any questions, just comment on here, or feel free to contact me over on Instagram
