Butter London ~ Patent Gel Shine + UV Nails

Nails are a feel-good fashion accessory, especially in summer, and an easy way of changing up a look, is to add colour to fingers and toes. Fashion cosmetic brand Butter London have some great nail formulas for summer, featuring UV protection and patent shine gel lacquers. I love the ease of use and finish of these mani products, and I have a few colours and treatments to share with you, to get nails looking gorgeous for summer.

According to Butter London, they “believe in Rock & Roll. Great Britain. And Fashion.” Starting up in 2005, although an American brand, it is all London-inspired. Set up by both Sasha Muir, a British entrepreneur, and Nonie Creme, a premier fashion manicurist in London. They were the first ‘3-free’ nail brand, now 8-free, and is full of British eccentricity. Their lacquers are focused around ‘on-trend’ catwalk colours, with cheeky names and luxury products. Suitable for vegans and vegetarians.

Butter London Patent Shine 10x Laquers – £15  for 11ml

Featuring an array of colours, these produce amazing high shine with a gel-like cushion finish, and I’m loving the finish they give. Designed to help with smoothing and strengthening nails, the colours have fade-resistantency and can last up to 10 days. They glide on easily with the help of fab brushes, and the look of the creamy formulas on the nail, are true to the bottle colour. With shock-resistant polymers, these are also infused with Diamond Powder and Bamboo Extract to give strength and shine. Check out these 3 lovely must-have shades below.

IngredientsButyl Acetate, Ethyl Acetate, Isopropyl Alcohol, Nitrocellulose, Tosylamide/Epoxy Resin, Acetyl Tributyl Citrate, Benzophenone -1, Styrene/Acrylates Copolymer, Stearalkonium Hectorite, Malic Acid, Citric Acid, Bambusa Vulgaris (Bamboo) Extract, Ethyl Trymethylbenzoyl Phenylphosphinate, Diamond Powder, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, (plus dioxide colours, depending on shade).

L – R : Yummy Mummy (a neutral sand), Dearie Me! (a rose pink), and Smashing! (a true pillar box red)

Below – and currently wearing as I type, is Yummy Mummy, a chic neutral that simply works with everything. An ideal colour for summer and easy to wear for work, yet also looks good good with bright summery outfits or casual holiday linens. I think this would easily make a suitable nail shade for a wedding, sitting well with any outfit and teamed with nude sandals/bag.

The brushes on these lacquers are a a good size, with a slight curved edge making them an easy fit over the nail plate to swipe on your colour.

The shiny lids pull off revealing the actual brush top/handle, again for ease of use, with the trademark bird and crown of the brand on top. I have to admit, I do like oblong shaped polish bottles, because if you have a collection, they stack well together for storage.

Above – Dearie me! an easy wearable rich rosy pink. Below – Smashing! such a gorgeous ‘proper’ red to knock ’em dead.

The pink is one of those go-to shades, a grown-up pink that looks fab with navy, black or daytime denim and white tee. The red is lovely on fingers but amazing on toes, especially with a tan and colourful bright clothing. This is definitely a summer holiday shade for me!

Sumptuous, rich and glossy formulas that make nails look amazing, as well as protecting them. The patent Shine lacquers work really well with the Patent-Gel top & base coats below.

The lacquers contain Vitamins B, C & E, Horsetail Extract and Hydrolysed Silk, which will help to improve the health and strength of the nails. Although I always use 2 coats of colour, these have great payoff with ease of one stroke, thanks to the brush and formula.

Below is shade Kip, a slight shimmer lacquer in a grey-blue, a sort of summer cloud colour. If you are into unicorn/mermaid type colours, this is perfect. It has a pretty iridescent finish which glimmers in the sunlight. Perfect with jeans and would sit well with the metallic trend for summer.

It has been a while since I had used Butter London products, and I am loving the new high shine formulas, plus getting nice comments on my nails. The treatment top and basecoats are fab too, they help build up the lacquer whilst protecting the manicure. I’ve just gotten back into the habit and fun of doing my nails. Never heard of Butter London before but these nail lacquers look really fab. Nearly every polish I have tried, even using a base and top coat, just peels off after a day or so in one sheet. I don’t know what it is about my nails but polish does not want to stay on. It doesn’t even chip, just peels off. I’ve tried pretty much everything.

I love the colours you had, especially that red – right up my street that one! :D

These look great, I’ll have to try them. After years of gel overlays I’ve gone back to nail polish recently, so I’m trying to find the best ones. Some chip after only one day which is so annoying. I really like Ciate, but not all shades have a good colour playoff. I don’t want to be faffing about doing more than two coats. Nobody has time for that!

I love the bold colours in this range. I am always on the lookout for nail varnishes that are going to last a little longer. I have been through so many which promise to a last a week but never to and I can’t begin to tell you the money I have wasted doing this! I cannot get gels done as they need removing after 3/4 days as my nails grow fast.

I find if you do manual work/housework, nails are hit hard no matter what you use tbh. Although, to get the best from a lacquer, a good manicure with base coat, 2 coats of polish and a topcoat, really will help the polish to go as long as it can. Sometimes it can be the health of the nail, so regular treatment is needed like oiling the cuticles.
These are lovely tho, so super glossy and yes, fab colours! Worth a try :)
