I use a couple of pieces from this popular brand’s skincare range, like Glow Tonic and the H2O Skin Drink, but I’ve not used the makeup before. That was until very recently, when I was kindly sent the latest Pixi Beauty Holiday Collection makeup. I’m impressed with the ethos of this brand and excited to share these fab ethereal makeup pieces with you.
A bit about the brand : The Pixi skincare and makeup range was created by Petra Strand, with her passion for skincare, product development and over 20 years experience as a makeup artist. The products are made using natural ingredients including botanicals, which are safe and kind to the skin, paraben free and not tested on animals (nor are any of the products from their suppliers). Petra believes in taking care of the skin, and in using easy, glow-enhancing products for busy women on the go.
Pixi Fairy Dust Favourites ‘Metallic Warmth’ ~ £12
This stack of 5 metallic shades of the pixie dust shadows are extremely pretty. These shadows are loose pigments, and give super colour payoff, and can be used wet or dry. For dry application, I tend to use a fingertip to pick up as, being loose pigments they don’t adhere well to a brush. I press onto the eyelid before buffing in with a brush. Or, used with a wet brush and dipping into the pigment, apply for a stronger foiled look, and it will stay put once dry. This method is great for a vibrant party look, so us metallic fans can fill our boots!

I do however have an issue with the packaging. As it’s a stackable tower, there’s no individual lids, and being loose pigment, accidents can happen. Having arthritic fingers, I had a job to open these at first, and of course the one I was excited to get to was the shimmery black. The screw top was stuck and after a tough twist, oops!…black pigment all down my trousers and on my light coloured carpet! (much cleaning was involved here). So, a word of warning : handle with extreme caution. Apart form the packaging, they’re fabulous.
Below, shades L to R : Black Pearl, Sunkissed Amber, Ruby Sheen, True Bronze & Sheer Peach Glow.

Below heavily swatched L to R ~ Enhancing contour/bronzer, cheek blush & all-over glow.
I love the all-over glow, I use a light dusting over the top of cheeks and other high points of the face. It’s not too shimmery, yet catches the light really well by using just a light dusting (as shown below), producing an ethereal look. I’m looking forward to playing with this palette a lot more over the coming weeks.
Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in ‘Opal Overcoat’ ~ £12
This eye pencil is so soft yet gives fab pigment. It’s creamy formula glides on and this shade is so pretty. I use on the inner corner of the eye to lift, or line below the lower lash to add pretty sparkle. Another tip, is to use it over the top of shadow on the middle of the lid, just to lift it and open the eye.
Free from ~ Parabens, mineral oil and preservatives. Hypoallergenic and enriched with vitamin E.
Opal Overcoat silky eye swatched below ~ opal gives a pretty peachy/rose gold metallic finish.
Pixi Matte Lustre Lipstick ~ Classic Red
I don’t own many red lipsticks, mainly due to the fact I find it hard to get one to really suit my skin tone. The Pixi Classic Red is just right! It’s not too blue, not too orange but sits in the middle and is beautiful. I recently wore out with neutral eye makeup and got so many compliments! This is definately my lippy of choice for Christmas, I also can see this being one of my summer go-to lip shades.
Contains peptides, Vitamins C & E, plus Hyaluronic acid to plump and hydrate the lips.
This Matte Lustre lipstick in Classic Red, is super smooth to apply and moisturising on the lips. I apply a couple of layers blotting in between and at the end, to gain a long lasting stained look on the lips in the day. For a more vampy, shiny night time look, swipe on the lips a few times for the desired effect.
After trying these gorgeous pieces from Pixi by Petra, the brand’s makeup is definitely now on my list for future purchases. With great textures and pigments, application is easy for creating some fab looks. The main thing that swings it for me, is that the Pixi brand is not tested on animals…at all..plus the products contain safe, quality ingredients, including botanicals which are beneficial to the skin.
Are you a Pixi fan too, if so, what’s your faves from the makeup range?
