Sensitive Skins Will Love ‘Antipodes’

Hi guys, hope you’re all well and ready for Christmas…where has the year gone?! Now, this post should’ve gone up last week although migraines held up any of my productivity, blog or otherwise, but here it is! Many of you regulars will know I have sensitive skin, and sometimes it’s difficult to start using a new brand without sparking up the odd reaction. That was until I tried New Zealand organic skincare brand Antipodes…

Founded by Elizabeth Barbalich, New Zealand brand Antipodes sell worldwide, consisting of premium natural products with performance skin proven by science. Their award winning products provide incredibly light textures and scents, thanks to the inclusion of 100% natural ingredients. Their products are free from parabens, sodium lauryl sulphates, synthetic fillers/silicon, mineral oils, petrochemicals, artificial colours/fragrances, GE ingredients or GMOs. Antipodes skincare is also vegetarian and cruelty free, plus they use environmentally friendly packaging, and are partnered with the WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature).

So, let me run through some of the products I have trying on my sensitive dehydrated skin…and absolutely loving!

Grapeseed Butter Cleanser – 75ml for£24.99

I love cleansing with balms and oils for their texture and slip, plus my skin loves it because they are so nourishing. This gentle facial cleanser contains Cacao butter, Olive oil, Vinanza Grape, Harakeke flax oil and Hibiscus flower to nourish the skin. Plus Blue Chamomile and Lavender oils to calm sensitivities. Suitable for all skin types but especially dry and sensitive.

I apply to dry skin and find it easy to massage and providing a good cleanse, but the bonus is it leaves skin superbly nourished. If you have a dry skin and find your usual cleanser strips it dry, this one will become a best friend.

I also want to try the ‘Grace’ gentle cream cleanser as I know my skin will love it, plus I like to double cleanse with 2 different products.

Reincarnation Pure Facial Exfoliator75ml for £21.99 + Aura Manuka Honey Mask75ml for £24.99

Reincarnation exfoliator, was the first ever product I used from Antipodes, back in Spring of this year. For a sensitive skin, the word ‘exfoliant’ can be scary. Not with this gentle formulation though. It contains Jajoba seed and Avocado oils, along with Carrot seeds that gentle exfoliate the skin surface.

For the first time, I can use a physical exfoliator product without having to be extra careful and ending up with reddened skin. Sometimes, if my skin IS feeling a little delicate, I simply mix with a pump of oil cleanser, just to provide added buffer between the skin and product. Although I have to say, I don’t get any unwanted reaction form using this alone. I love this product and so does my skin, so I highly recommend!

After using the Reincarnation exfoliant, I apply the beautiful Aura mask. A deeply moisturising formula containing Manuka honey, Avacado oil, and Vitamin E, this is a moisturising treat if your skin gets dry and sensitive like mine. If you find skin gets a little dull in winter, this also contains natural extracts of Mandarin which will help to brighten. Plus, there is also natural Vanilla extract which makes this product smell so comforting.

I apply an even layer over my face and neck leaving on for around 10- 15 minutes before rinsing off. After using, I find my skin is left much brighter and feels baby soft. If you’re a mask fan like me, you’ll love that this comes in a handy tube too, it’s a winner!

Hosanna H2O Intensive Skin-Plumping Serum30ml for £29.99

This light yet effective serum is kind to any skins with sensitivities, yet according to Antipodes, has been scientifically proven to boost collagen production within the skins fibroblast cells. The formulation contains Waiwera mineral water, Vinanza grape and Mamaku black fern extract.

It has a milky brown colour and a very light, velvety viscosity, allowing it to absorb into the skin well. I find it a lovely serum to use on the skin as it’s very soothing. After applying this under my morning moisturiser, I later find my skin feels super bouncy, and is really hydrated and soft. If you have a dehydrated skin, this natural golden elixir is a real boost to add to your routine!

Avocado Pear Nourishing Night Cream – 60ml for £34.99

This sumptuous oily cream is a delight to apply, for me, usually about half an hour before bed (as I want it absorbed by my skin, not a pillowcase). Containing Avocado Pear oil, Manuka honey, Vinanza grape and Sandalwood oil, plus antioxidants and vitamins, this helps to nourish, moisturise and purify the skin overnight.

An oily but not ‘heavy’ night cream, it is lovely when applied to the skin after cleansing. I find I wake up with really soft and nourished skin after using, so if you have a dry skin, this overnight moisturiser would be perfect to try for this time of year!

Saviour Skin Balm35g for £14.99

I love a multi-use product don’t you? Something that is portable to use for so many things, and I call this one my little ‘winter warrior’. It contains oils of Castor, Tea Tree, Meadowfoam, Carrot seed, Calendula flower, Sunflower seed oils, plus Beeswax, St John’s wort, Shea butter, and extracts of Vinanza grape, Chamomile flower and Echinacea.

A balm that really lives up to its namesake, is packed with  antibacterial, antifungal and antimicrobial healing properties. I love using to rub into dry cuticles, hydrate dry/sore patches of skin and abrasions, and as a lip salve for chapped lips. I also find that it’s good on a cold windy day for the ends of my hair. Warming a little in my hands, I rub into the ends to keep them hydrated and shiny. It can also be applied to stretch marks, sunburn and even sore muscles!

I’m now really into using Antipodes, and extremely happy to find that each product is accepted by my sensitive skin, with no reactions at all. Being a brand that use natural, organic ingredients, yet provide efficacy, this range of products is well worth investigating to add to any skincare routine. I am now building a list of the products I want to try, as I am totally impressed with the range so far!

(Antipodes is also available from Naturisimo, Feel Unique and Cos Natural in the UK)

I would love to know your faves from the brand!
