Shower Forecast Edit | June ’17

Yup, this a few days off course but I won’t tell if you won’t! June, usually a bit of a damp squib, managed to hit us with a week of el schorchio. Although more a taste of holiday weather for being pool side, or cooling off in the Med…not busy working or living in homes with no air con! So this months edit contains products I’ve enjoyed in the heat, as well as for some groggy days. There is a good mix here, and maybe one will get you running for your shower cap.

Molton Brown ‘Rhubarb & Rose’ Bath & Shower Gel – £20 for 300ml

This takes me back to my dear late Nan’s garden in summer, with some of the fragrances that surrounded me in the heat as a little girl. It combines the fruity tartness of rhubarb, pretty floral notes of a garden rose, along with citrus notes from Yuzu Fruit. It has vibrancy, so great when needing a bit of va-va-voom, providing its sweet and fruity fragrance, with a burst of citrus and florals.

I opened this in early June and was blown away by the scent, which I think is blooming’ gorgeous (excuse the pun)! I keep going back for more, but then these bottles last, so I don’t feel too guilty.

Australian Bodycare Tea Tree Skin Wash

This is must-have body wash, safe and suitable for the whole family, plus it is ideal post-workout. It comes in litre and half litre sizes, and you can also buy refills. A blue gel containing 2% Tea Tree Oil, it is antiseptic, antibacterial, anti-fungal, yet it is non-drying on the skin and keeps it fresh and clean. Great for hot days, post-sports and for those with really physical jobs. Admittedly there is a scent from the Tea Tree oil, but it is not offensive, just fresh, plus it does not linger on the skin after use.

For hot, sweaty times, this really gets to work cleansing the skin and fighting bacteria, as after all, that is where any whiff comes from regarding sweat. It leaves you feeling super clean, and helps treat spotty skin so great for teenagers and those who get breakouts on their backs. Also for those who get areas of irritation or rashes from clothes that chaff, and for skin folds. Particular good for cleansing those hot areas of the body, think armpits, under boobs and personal bits. If your man (or you), get sweaty feet, add to a footbath to fight bacteria, and it is great for a pre-manicure soak, to get nails super clean.

Ingredients : Aqua, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Coco-Betaine, Melaleuca alternifolia leaf oil, Sodium Chloride, Phenoxyethanol, Citric Acid, Methylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben, CI 75810.

My hubby uses this everyday to feel fresh and clean after a hard days work, plus, post-weightlifting. I use it some mornings after a night of hot flushes, especially in the hot weather we had recently. Then, if I want a pretty product, I simply use a fave after this for the enjoyment of the scent..along with the indulgence.

This Tea Tree wash is super hygienic as a body wash, and I highly recommend for all family bathrooms.

Clarins ‘Relax’ Bath & Shower Concentrate – £20 for 100 ml.

The Clarins blue gel as it is often referred to, is a must-have for me, as it is mainly the only shower product I can use if I have a bad migraine episode. The ingredients and scent befit the name on the bottle..Relax, and it can be used in the bath or shower. This is a concentrated product and the ingredients are activated by hot water, to allow relaxation and tension/stress relief, calming the mind and soothing body aches.

Contains : essential oils of Chamomile, Petit Grain, Bitter Orange and Basil, extracts of St. John’s Wort, Valarian, Linden and Hops. Plus a Coconut base to cleanse.

This is gentle on the skin, and the aroma is the only one in a body wash that I can actually take, when my head is in so much pain. It makes me breathe deeply and quite simply works. The concentrate helps to soothe the muscles, while its fragrance (which I love), is potent with botanicals and herbs, plus a hint of citrus. This cleanses well with just a little product on a wash puff, being concentrated, there is no need to use much. It is one product I cannot be without…ever.

Botanicals Deep Peace Mineral Soak – £27 for 500 gm

I’m already a fan of Botanicals, a natural, organic and cruelty free brand, who provide an array of products for face and body that do not disappoint. This Mineral Soak contains Pink Himalayan crystals and Epsom salts, plus several essential oils, aimed at providing its namesake. Blended with natural oils and salts, it is specifically aimed to help relieve aches and pains, soothe tension, and relax the mind and body.

Ingredients : Sodium chloride***, maris sal (Dead Sea) salt,*** Magnesium Sulphate***, parfum*, Lavendula Angustifolia (Lavender) flower oil*, Pelargonium Graveolens (Sweet Geranium) flower oil*, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) peel oil*, Origanum Majorana (Marjoram) leaf oil*, Santalum Spicatum (Sandalwood) oil*, Tocopherol (natural Vitamin E), geraniol**, limonene**, linalool**, citronellol**. (*Certified organic. **Natural constituents of essential oils. *** Natural origin.)

Sprinkle a small handful into a warm bath, and soak for around 20 minutes to allow the product to work its magic and soothe.

I received a small pot of these crystals to sample, but when I can, I want to buy the full size..they are a breath of fresh air! The scent is not overpowering but light, clean and fresh, more oceanic with hints of herbal notes. Containing organic oils of Geranium, Sandalwood, Marjoram, Orange and Lavender, this helps to ease aching muscles, yet also clears and calms the mind. The natural salts also work to help ease tension, whilst dissolving really well.

Sometimes, a hot day can leave me feeling tired, weighed down and with a thick head having Fibro. I have found Deep Peace soak to be be soothing and refreshing, a blissful escape and great for a no-fuss, no-mess, bath time pamper.

Find these at Botanicals

I enjoy using all of these for different reasons, helping to revive and freshen in the heat, or to soothe stress and pain. I love having a number of shower/bath products to hand, it’s like having a wardrobe of clothes…a range of choice for different days, needs and moods. I would recommend any of these to add to a bathroom cabinet, definitely worth trying if you haven’t already.
