Adding different products to the hair can help with achieving modern styles, so with some fresh styling products from Aveda, you can smooth, add texture, body and shine, to help you get the look you want to acheive, and all with natural botanical ingredients.
A bit about the brand : Aveda combine the art and science of pure flower and plant essences. Their beauty and hair products contain the life force of plants and pure essential oils, clinically tested and professionally developed. The brand started out with haircare in 1978 and went on to create skincare, perfumes and makeup all using natural plant ingredients. They have spas and salons around the world and their slogan is; “connecting beauty, environment and wellbeing.” More than 90% of their essential oils and 89% of their herbal ingredients are certified organic, and the brand pride themselves on supplying green products, sourcing them worldwide from traditional communities.
I’ve been a fan of several of their products over the years, and was recently lucky enough to trial some newer ones from their hair styling range. I’m looking forward to my hair growing again, so I can play with all these to create even more styles.
Aveda Smooth Infusion
Using this on towel dried hair pre-styling, its creamy, gel-like consistency helps to smooth and seal the cuticle of the hair, leaving a shiny and nourished smooth finish. It can also help to tame any frizziness and in our weather, any product that helps that is a bonus.
Smooth Infusion contains botanical ingredients including organic shea butters and cupaucu. Using a little before I blow-dry, (although it’s also suitable for air-drying), I find it helps smooth my style either when straightening or creating waves, resulting in a soft and smoothed style.

Aveda Thickening Tonic
This hair thickening styling spray adds body to fine hair, swelling the hair shaft to create more volume and fullness. Contains wheat amino-acids for bodying shine, organic aloe to soften plus fragrance from essential oils to lift the senses. It’s fab as it’s non-sticky and, having baby fine hair, I find it gives me the body and bounce I need. It also leaves my hair feeling really soft but there’s no heaviness as with some volumising products I’ve used. I spray this in at the roots for lift, then spread through the hair by brushing through to the ends and, I’m amazed at the softness it gives my hair when I’ve finished styling.
Aveda Shampure Dry Shampoo
This powder contains 99.8% natural products including 25 pure flower and plant essences that are nourishing to the hair, along with adding lovely fragrance. It can be used to absorb oiliness in the hair and refresh between washing, also as a texturising product to add movement and body.
The image below shows the hole in the lid where the powder is pumped out. To use, hold upside down aimed at the roots and squeeze very gently to release a little powder, then work into roots area. I also use this by squeezing a little into my hand and work it into areas of my hair using my fingers, to create a bedhead look between washes and to add texture to a style. I’d advise being careful not to add too much onto dark hair as it can show in the roots, so work it in well. You can always add a little mist of shine spray over the top.
I’m enjoying using these styling products from Aveda, as they’re great for different hair needs. depending on my style or mood. I’m also pleased that they’re not full of chemicals, but botanicals which are kind to the hair and scalp, plus the lovely aromas make your hair smell nice and are also beneficial to the senses.
You can find the Smooth Infusion at £22-50 for 250ml, Thickening Tonic at £16-50 for 100ml and Shampure Dry Shampoo at £22 for 56gm all here at Aveda. They are also available at many other retailers around the UK including salon stockists.
