The Sunshine Blogger Award ~ Chronic Beauty Style

It is so nice when you get recognition from a fellow blogger. Oh yes.. a lovely gesture of blog-boosting-sisterhood in the form of being nominated for a ‘Sunshine Blogger Award’! So I’m sending a high five and big ‘thank you’ to the lovely Lisa from, whilst answering her award questions and nominating five others! So check out this post and let’s celebrate some other fab blogs out there that you may or may not know of…

I feel quite honoured to be nominated by Lisa, as she has worked in part of an industry I have always been passionate about. It is also fantastic that many of us over 35, are bringing something to the blogging world. Life experience is something to be raved about, and hopefully we are sharing views, products, tips, hacks and stories that others find helpful. As much as I love ‘Instagramming’, it can be so fickle. It’s flooded and hard work, especially as the damn algorithm knocks many of us out of the running. I started blogging, writing about what I love, so it’s where my heart lies.. being able to share me and real. This also gives me the chance to give some worthy bloggers I love following, a shoutout too.

So here are the questions Lisa asked with my replies…

1) How do you keep motivated with your blog?

Basically my passion for beauty and holistic care has always driven me, and it’s usually wanting to rave about great products that drive my blogging enthusiasm. For me though, creativity depends on my health, which can also affect mood. If I’m struggling with pain/fatigue, sometimes I find it challenging enough running the home, caring for my kids  (poorly pup and hubby), lol, and general life stuff.. which can make blogging and social media a struggle. It’s just a case for me that at times, “the mind is willing, but the body isn’t able”! That being said, I don’t want to give up on my passion any time soon.

2) Whats your favourite blog post and why?

Ooh, good question! I have a few but I’m going to be cheeky here and plump for two favourites as I really can’t decide between the two. The first is a Tisserand product post aromatherapy being one of my passions, as I’m a great believer in the power of essential oils. The second is a springtime skincare post, good skincare being an addiction, and I was happy to shout about these particular products. I’m also quite proud of my writing and photography in these posts, and when I compiled them..they just flowed. A girl needs to blow her trumpet and I don’t do enough of that, so hence 2-for-1! (my bad Lisa) lol.

3) Why did you start blogging?

I used to be a beauty/massage therapist and aromatherapist, so when I had to give up due to chronic pain illness, it kind of broke my heart! I had been into beauty since the age of 12. I trained in beauty, aromatherapy, massage and other courses over the years, worked in salon and spa environments, along with being self-employed. About 9 years ago, I only followed about 5 beauty bloggers/vloggers, and later decided one day I wanted to give it a go. It was my passion, so having background knowledge and a love for being creative, it made sense. I also wanted to take my mind off my illness by focusing on something I enjoyed, so ‘Chronic Beauty’ blogspot (back in 2015), was born.

4) What would you like to achieve from your blog?

I always wanted to become a beauty/wellbeing writer, so having a little space on the internet enables that in a way. Ideally, I’d like to make a living from my passion, and 20 months ago I was heading that way, posting 4-5 times a week with fast growing followers at the time. That was, before bad menopausal symptoms, affecting Fibromyalgia and vice versa, which made me step back from blogging. So I am still working my way back. As I have always enjoyed/aimed to look and feel good, no matter age or health, I also brought wellness tips and some style into the blog, so I want to continue and grow on this. I feel, as long as people enjoy reading my posts and can take something away with them to help in some form, then I am happy. If I grow and could go further, that would be a fabulous bonus.

5) How has the blogosphere changed since you started yours?

Oh my days, its grown massively! I know when I first started that realising actually how many bloggers were out there was a real surprise. Now, it’s a huge industry that is virtually taking over from magazines. It’s fabulous, as there is so much on offer in every shade and form of life, age and niche, with many being interesting, real and helpful. Some have turned blogging into amazing lifestyles and careers, earning them thousands. But some can also be quite far from flung from many of our daily lives. That is why it is great to be able to shoutout bloggers who are trying to grow, and who really have something to offer. Hence little blog award posts like this, which leads me on to my nominations…
