Being that many of us are going through stressful times recently, plus the fact it is Aromatherapy Awareness Week 12th – 16th June, I feel it is an ideal time to share this post. Long-standing brand Tisserand, provide aromatherapy skin/bodycare products, and their De-Stress range can help to rebalance during hectic or worrying times.
Did you know that by using aromatherapy products, you can help alleviate your stress levels, rebalance your brain chemistry along with hormone production? Well, wether you suffer from the odd day, week or longer periods of stress, you might want to check out this range from Tisserand.
Stress is The most common contributor to many health problems in our modern day living, and aromatherapy can really help. Essential oil blends have the ability to work on subliminal levels, lowering blood pressure and calming the mind. Although, aromas do not need to be strong to work on our sympathetic nervous system. Unobtrusive and subtle inhalations work to help psychologically, whilst topically (on the skin), usually by way of massage, will help to work on the internal body systems.
The Tisserand ‘De-Stress’ range, has products containing pure essential oil blends that include Jasmine (improves self-confidence), Clary Sage (helps stress & nervous tension), Geranium, Rose, Sweet Orange & Ylang Ylang (all antidepressants), and Nutmeg (supportive, brings harmony). They are aimed at giving balance and comfort for body and mind, during difficult times and our demanding lifestyles. The bath and body blends are also nurturing to the skin, containing oils including Sweet Almond, Jojoba and Coconut.
As I have been going through some problematic times for a while, I try to use aromatherapy practically everyday in some form. Many of us do without realising it, with scented products having an effect on our limbic system, but specific blends help certain needs. De-Stress suits my unbalanced mood recently, which ranges from sudden emotions of tears, apathy, or anger, all symptomatic emotions of stress.
This range is my current ‘go-to’, not simply for testing purposes, but because the blends are so very balancing! The scents definitely have a relaxing effect, although not in a sleep inducing way, more of a levelling out experience that enables me to ‘cope’, and function better. Check out the blends and different products available to use.
De-Stress Bath Oil
Winner of the ‘Editor’s Choice, in the Beauty Shortlist Awards 2017′, this bath oil is rich in antioxidants and vitamins. Its blend is designed to help soothe after one of those days, and hell… don’t we all get them?!
Ingredients : Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) Oil, C12-13 Pareth-3, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Myrocarpus Fastigiatus (Cabreuva) Wood Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Kernel Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Oil. Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citral*, Farnesol*
Even though I don’t always have time to relax like I probably should, I shower each day but also make sure I have at least 2 aromatherapy baths a week, using oil/salts. I pour, probably about 6-8 capfuls of this into a warm bath, lie back and breathe in the aroma. It soothes the senses with fragrances of herby and exotic florals, plus a hint of refreshing citrus notes. I find afterwards I feel adjusted, soothed and calm, but not sleepy. I tend to let out deep sighs for a couple of hours, so I know the blend is helping me to give some form of tension release.
The lovely fragrance is not heavy or sedative, nor does it blast vibrant aromas at you, it is enjoyable and ideal to bring equilibrium.
Priced at £10-95 for 100 ml.
De-Stress Body Oil
This is ideal to apply after a bath, especially when having soaked in the above bath oil, as it will give a double-whammy effect of the essential oils. It contains similar ingredients and nutrients as the bath oil, helping to calm and rebalance, whilst also conditioning the skin with the inclusion of Moringa oil.
Ingredients : Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil, Moringa Oleifera Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Myrocarpus Fastigiatus (Cabreuva) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Kernel Oil, Tocopherol, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Oil. Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Linalool*, Citral*, Farnesol*, Isoeugenol*
Coming in a handy, non-messy pump format, I use several pumps each time for the limbs, and the upper torso. It can be used as a massage medium, to help the body relax at the end of the day. Great if you are lucky enough to have someone in the family who knows how to massage! If not, work over the body/muscles in upward strokes towards the heart from the feet, and downward from the shoulders, most helpful before bed after a stressful day.
I enjoy using this one as it is fuss-free, a non-sticky oil and has a really subtle aroma. I now have it by the bed, to use as in addition to my Pillow Mist helping me switch off from problems, and get some much needed sleep.
Priced at £9-95 for 100 ml
I feel an aromatherapeutic mist is a must-have. Spritzing around your ‘space’, or above you to allow it fall over you and your clothing, the aroma will help in times of need. This contains essential oils including uplifting Orange, Jasmine and Rose, plus balancing Clary Sage and Nutmeg.

Citronellol*, Geraniol*, Limonene*, Linalool*
I love an aromatherapy mist, and own quite a few which I spritz around/over me during the day, having different blends for certain times/needs. This one is divine, and not only re-sets the mood and calms, but includes pretty uplifting notes, so like the rest of the collection, it helps balance the emotions. I have used this spray a lot recently, due to worries over my poorly dog and finances.
When we have too many worries occurring, it can be difficult to focus. So, we need to try and remind ourselves every now and again to breathe, especially during any ‘wobbly’ moments. Spritzing a helpful mist like the de-stress, allows the aroma to be inhaled and go to work on the nervous system. This gently addresses the emotions, allowing us to centre and think more rationally. I find misting this when I am stressed, simply helps me relax and re-set a little, whilst simply enjoying the lovely fragrance blend.

The de-stress rollerball is ideal for calming wherever you might be, providing a good hit of balancing aromatherapy. Rollerballs also work well using alongside aromatherapy mists.
Ingredients : Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Myrocarpus Fastigiatus (Cabreuva) Wood Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Kernel Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Tocopherol, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Coriandrum Sativum (Coriander) Seed Oil, Rosa Damascena (Rose) Flower Oil, Jasminum Officinale (Jasmine) Flower Oil. This pure essential oil blend is designed for burning in a vaporiser, allowing the scent to fill your surrounding space, and producing relaxation and calm.
Ingredients : Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Sweet Orange) Oil, Cananga Odorata (Ylang-Ylang) Flower Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Salvia Sclarea (Clary Sage) Oil, Elletaria Cardamomum (Cardomon) Oil, Myristica Fragrans (Nutmeg) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Copaifera Officinalis (Copaiba) Balsam
Using an oil burner/wax melt burner, I add a little water into the top and then several drops of this oil blend. The aroma is pure and beautiful, reminding me of my work in salon/clinic days. It fills our downstairs and seems to cleanse the air and bring harmony, yet it is subtle and totally soothing. Only burn for around 20mins, remembering not to let the water evaporate and the oil start to burn, as this will change the whole experience.
The delivered fragrance is clean and truly gorgeous, very spa-like. This burst of the true oils, help to bring a relaxed, content feeling within the home. A beautiful lasting scent to leave you feeling rested and content. I have to say this is a fabulous blend!
